Macmillan Nursing Service (NHS Western Isles)

The aim of the Macmillan Nursing Service is to provide a specialist cancer/palliative care service for people in the Western Isles, their families/carers and members of the multi-professional team within hospital and community settings.

This includes:

• people who are affected by cancer at any stage in their illness.
• people with specialist palliative care needs with any life limiting illness.

Services offered:

* Specialist cancer advice and support
* Signposting to help from other agencies
* Liaison between patients and local and mainland healthcare professionals
* Specialist pain and symptom control
* Specialist palliative and end of life care
* Bereavement support.

Our teams are based in Stornoway and in Balivanich.

Referrals from healthcare professionals are preferred, however patients can self-refer but their GP will be contacted for additional professional information.
